I always start these newsletters wondering what will unfold. I look into the near future dreamily and wonder, what have we in store this month at Dalkeith Road? Many good things, the future responds. Many good things. Read on for more...

The Vital Organs
But first, the past beckons! This Sunday gone was wonderful. We saw Peter and Kerri Tonkin smashing it out on Audio Vis, and my, they did a wonderful job. As someone who has to rely on the words from the stage, I was really grateful for such a team in the back there. Ros on communion! I loved the cup analogy: that we can choose what our cup is filled with and what overflows. Have you thought about what is overflowing from your cup? Ros and Glennis also filled our bellies with a delicious morning tea. Thank you!

Grant encouraged us to read the bible through two lenses; love and Christ. It is easy to interpret the bible in a variety of ways, but if we read the bible through the lenses of Christ and love, then we may know something of who God really is.

We have a children's roster! Sunday was our very first week with Kayleigh and Simmone (in interim) chilling out with the two little ones. A very exciting and useful service for all existing and future mothers that (will eventually) attend Dalkeith Road. Now we just need a playground out the front to entice the street children. Thoughts?

We brought out a very old tune this week; "All people that on earth do dwell", which has been stuck in my head for days. The congregation sang it out in A cappella at one stage, which sounded quite heavenly! Thanks for joining in on that one, even though it was a little slow to begin with ;)

What did you think of the organ? Generally curious. Too loud, too soft? Liked it? Wasn't sure? Took you back? Took you too far back? Would you like to see more organ? Is it a vital organ? Feedback welcome.

Dalkeith Road School of Music Showcase
This event will take place in our Dalkeith Road Concert Hall, on Thursday the 29th of June (next Thursday!) at 6.30PM. This is always a fantastic opportunity to support our young musicians as they perform for a live audience.

In the past, Dalkeith Road has supported this event by bringing a plate to share for supper. Please feel free to contribute in this way if you would like to do so :)

Wednesday Morning Prayer
Do you ever make spaces to pray intentionally? We've opened up a space for prayer on Wednesday mornings at 8am each week - a truly wonderful way to start the day. Join us if you can :)

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Quizmas in July

Cuddly Christmas cardigans encouraged - Tick
Christmas carol sing-a-long - Tick
Christmas decor - Tick
A great opportunity to have fun and let your hair down - Tick

I, for one, am really looking forward to singing 'Baby, it's cold outside', and it being true. We may never go dashing through the snow on the 25th of December, but we can dream of a White Christmas, can't we? We can roast our chestnuts by an open fire, mightn't we?

So gather all your merry friends and book your table now for Quizmas in July at 6pm Friday, July 21st!

Nakuru Hope Meet and Greet
An opportunity to meet the School and Orphanage Director of Nakuru Hope approaches! Christopher Makokha and Susan Saleeba (Founder/Chair) will be doing a presentation and providing a space for questions and answers. If you would like to know more about Nakuru Hope before attending the event here is their website.

Alternatively, check out this video of some of our congregation visiting the Orphanage back in 2018.
Dalkeith Road Mission Trip to Nakuru - 2018

As someone who has travelled and visited Nakuru Hope School and Orphanage, I can tell you this is a worthy cause to support. What Susan, Christopher and their team have achieved is truly remarkable. I hope to see you on Sunday the 13th of August at 2pm at the Dalkeith Bowling Club to support our friends from Nakuru Hope :)

Stage Eye-lids

And to top it off I have some thrilling news! Our concert hall is getting curtains! Some very delicious curtains at that. What a glorious performance space this hall is turning out to be!

In the past, many congregation members have expressed interest in supporting the church in funding these curtains. If this sounds like something you'd still like to do, feel free to donate any amount to the Dalkeith Road Church of Christ account.
